Team Story

Eric

Eric, a project manager sitting at at laptop in the village of Abenta where he works

Eric is a Project Manager, one of four full-time Village by Village employees based in Abenta. He joined the team straight from school in 2021. Eric’s current focus is on – Under 5’s Early Years Education, Under 5’s Feeding Programme, Photography and Social Media. Here, Eric tells us what he values most about this job and why you shouldn’t hesitate to donate or volunteer.

No two working days are the same for Eric, something he relishes. He explains that he’s constantly learning, being challenged, and stretched. He’s acquiring important, skills, notably project management, communication and language, leadership, painting and decorating, and cooking.

Eric says this job has been life-changing for him. A monthly salary has made life more comfortable, less stressful. It means he can build a house, and start to secure a future for himself. It also means he can support his extended family and friends. What’s more, Eric feels respected. His siblings and peers look up to him, and he’s proud of that.

Eric tells us he particularly enjoys looking after and working alongside Village by Village Volunteers.

His message to anyone considering donating or volunteering with the charity is clear and positive.

It’s great meeting people from all over the world, I love the variety, different conversations, learning about other people and cultures. It’s been a real eye-opener for me. And my English has improved significantly. .....Trust us. Your contribution will make a big difference to people living in rural Ghana. You can help change lives for the better.
